Company Overview:

Our Confidential Client is a $300 million plus dollar organization headquartered in the beautiful Western New York State area and is seeking an experienced Vice president of Information Technology to lead their expanding IT organization. This company is growing rapidly and looks forward to becoming a Billion Dollar per year organization in the next few years.

The role of the VP Information Technology is to provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing information technology initiatives that enable the organization to manage data. The VP Information Technology directs the planning and implementation of enterprise IT systems in support of business operations in order to improve cost effectiveness, service quality, and business development. The VP Information Technology reports directly to the President and manages all IT related staff.

Vice President of Information Technology

Position Responsibilities:

  • Participate and contribute substantively to the Executive Team so that they understand, value and embrace how technology, or a new technology, can accelerate change or leverage an operational process.

  • Lead IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization.

  • Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry, including current technologies and prices. Advise, counsel, and educate executives and management on their competitive or financial impact. Lead initiatives in the way the organization thinks about technology and the significant role others can play in the development of it.

  • Act as an advocate for the organization’s IT vision via regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads, and end users. Take the opportunity to stimulate debate related to critical thinking and the role of technology.

  • Establish IT departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures and ensure the adherence to applicable laws and regulations.

  • Identify opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment of financial resources in IT systems and resources, including staffing, sourcing, purchasing, and in-house development. Assess and communicate risks associated with IT investments.

  • Develop, track, and control the information technology annual operating and capital budgets.

  • Approve, prioritize, and control projects and as they relate to the selection, acquisition, development, and installation of major information systems.

  • Define and communicate corporate plans, policies, and standards for the organization for acquiring, implementing, and operating IT systems.

  • Direct development and execution of an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plan.

  • Review hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts and pursue master agreements to capitalize on economies of scale.

  • Promote and oversee strategic relationships between internal IT resources and external entities, including government, vendors, and partner organizations.

  • Supervise recruitment, development, retention, and organization of all IT staff in accordance with corporate budgetary objectives and personnel policies.

    Skills, Experience and Knowledge Required:

  • Through a minimum of ten to fifteen years of varied systems experience including a minimum of three years at the senior management or executive level with experience in each of the following areas:

  • You must be currently or recently employed with a major One Billion Dollar corporation as a Director of IT, VP of IT or CIO/CTO to qualify for this position. Your current company must be high transaction, high growth company

  • You must have experience managing an IT staff of at least 30 or more.

  • You must possess strong team development skills and have a proven track record with mentoring and developing your staff.

  • Experience in strategic planning and execution and possess a strong IT vision.

  • Experience with a company that has high numbers of transactions as related to IT functions is required. Retail or Manufacturing vertical experience is considered a huge plus.

  • Experience in strategic planning and execution.

  • Substantial exposure to data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems. Previous People Soft, Oracle and EDI connectivity application software experience is required.

  • Good understanding of computer systems characteristics, features, and integration capabilities.

  • Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management.

  • Proven experience in IT planning, organization, and development.

  • Excellent execution and understanding of project management principles.

  • Superior understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems.

  • In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT.

  • Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.

  • Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Strong negotiating skills.

    Education Required:

  • University degree in the field of computer science or business administration. Master’s degree in one these fields preferred.

    Compensation Package: Base salary from $130,000 - $160,000 plus a 50% bonus plan!
